The Proposal

It was Monday night, February 2nd. Jeff asked if I wanted to go the park and swing. This sounds weird in the middle of winter, but I honestly thought nothing of it. I love to swing, and we have done it many times. I put on some sweats to stay warm and we went to the park. Jeff went to sit on a swing and stepped through some ice into a puddle and got his foot all wet. So, he sat on my lap :) There's a game he likes to play where he says a word and I start singing a line of a song that starts with that word, and I try to guess what song he is thinking of. So, we were sorta swinging and he started to play that game. He said "Romeo" and I started singing the "Love Story" song. Then he handed me a taco bell sauce packet...(also thought nothing of it because he likes to bring me funny ones he finds)...that said "Make a Wish". Then he told me to keep singing. I got to the part that says "...he knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring" and he got on his knee and pulled out a ring box. He opened it and inside was another taco bell packet that said "Will you marry me?" I looked at him and I think I said, "are you serious?" Oops! Wrong response ;) It seemed so unreal! I kept trying to make myself wake up! But then I said yes :) He had the ring on a chain around his neck, so then he took it off and put it on my finger. I don't think I stopped smiling for a week. And the first thing I did when I woke up the next morning was make sure the ring box was still on my nightstand so I knew it was real! :)

A whole year

Jeff & I have been together a year. WOW! Crazy how fast time goes by. I've been looking at pictures to put on our wedding video and remembering a lot of great times :) And I decided I wanted to make a list of some of my memories of the past year.

*One of my very favorite memories is my Chicago trip last summer. I loved how excited he was to show me a little piece of his life. He took me to all his favorite places to eat. He showed me around the city. We went to a cubs game!

We spent a lot of time at the lake. He taught me how to wake board and ski :) He let me try over and over until i finally caught on. I'm addicted!

He took me fishing and I caught a fish for the very first time. Then made sure I didn't miss out on the "kissing your first fish" rule.

I think I really fell in love with him on this trip. Being able to meet his family & watch him interact with them. And getting to be a part of some of the things he loves most. I saw a side of him I had never seen before.

*Another thing I love about Jeff is how much he loves to surprise me. He loves to see how excited and anxious I get. In October we went to San Diego for Bridger's baby blessing. Saturday morning we got up and I asked what we were doing that day. He told me we were going to have surfing lessons, and I needed to wear a swimming suit. So, I dressed for the beach! (Since then I have learned to never believe him ;) We got in the car and drove...and drove...saw some beaches and drove some more. When we were pulling into the Sea World parking lot I realized what was going on. I'm quick, I know.

It ended up I really did need the swimsuit to swim with the whales :)

*Spending time with family has been a big part of the last year. My family and his. The first time he met any of my family, we took Melinda, Matthew & Maggie to Mcdonald's and bowling. He made it into a bet that whoever lost had to jump into the swimming pool with their clothes on. It was boys against girls...3 to 2...I'm not sure if he really thought it through. Anyway, we had 3 scores to add together so won by far. He and Matthew lost and jumped in the pool with their clothes on. I won, but somehow ended up being pushed in also.

I love that he gets along with my family and enjoys spending time with them.
We've also spent a lot of time with Jeff's cousin, Caitlin and her family. It's been so fun getting to know them. I love watching Jeff interact with her kids. They love him so much. I can't wait until we have kids of our own. He will be such a great daddy :)

I'm a lucky girl to have found such an amazing guy who loves me and treats me like a queen. I'm so much looking forward to spending forever with him.

Bridal Shower #2

Ana & Heather threw me another bridal shower yesterday! We invited around 30 people, but not very many were able to come. I was a little disappointed, but it was still a lot of fun! We played another game where I had to answer questions about Jeff. I got a prize for each one I got right! I got a lot more right this time! (there were a lot of the same questions from the last shower :) The prizes were little things to use around the house. They will be really nice to have...especially since I probably wouldn't think to buy most of them until I actually needed it. Like a toilet brush, duster, dish soap, dish scrubber, batteries...and other little things.

I got gift cards from Target, Victoria's Secret, & Bed, Bath & Beyond. Yay for shopping!

A couple high school friends gave me some lingerie, a few games, & coupon books for the honeymoon :)

And I got some dishes that came all the way from my aunt in California!

Thanks everyone!

Date night

A couple nights ago, Jeff & I went on a date to the last Jazz home game of the season. It was nice to spend some time together just him & me. We haven't been out just the two of us for quite a while...(sad, I know...were not even married yet). It was a nice break from all the wedding planning. Neither of us were feeling very good though, so we left early. (As soon as I knew the Jazz were going to win :)

Easter

Last weekend we had Caitlin & the boys, Jonathan & Julie, & Jeff's grandparents over for a bbq and easter egg hunt in the rain. It was cool to be able to introduce my family to some of Jeff's family. Each of the kids had their own color of egg they had to find.

Benjamin wanted to come out and play too, but it was too cold for the little guy.
But he had fun playing with the eggs that were left inside.

After the little kids were done, the bigger kids got a turn :) And I think there were a few eggs we never found.

And this is what too much sugar will do to people! It was a good day. :)

Conference

Yesterday, my parents & sisters & I were able to go the morning session of conference at the conference center. I've only been to the conference center twice before and it's been a few years. It was such an awesome experience for me! I love being in the presence of our prophet and feeling that strong Spirit that surrounds him. My testimony was definitely strengthened. As the choir was singing the closing song, "We Thank Thee O God for a Prophet", and the screen was showing pictures of President Monson, I realized I had tears rolling down my cheeks. I'm so grateful to live at this time and be part of this great work!

Bridal Shower #1

Last weekend Julie & a lady in my ward threw me a Pampered Chef bridal shower!
We had lots of yummy food and played a couple games that made me feel like I don't know Jeff at all! Good thing we have the rest of eternity! ;)
I gave Melinda the job of photographer at the shower...and this is why we only have 3 pictures :)
It was a lot of fun, and I got some nice, good quality stuff for my new kitchen! Thanks everyone for coming!
